BEP take us back to "The Beginning"!

Following the success of their last studio album, "The E.N.D.", The Black Eyed Peas are getting ready to dominate the charts again with a new album ingeniously titled, "The Beginning". The album will serve as the group's sixth and hits stores on 30 November. Take a listen to the first single, "The Time (The Dirty Bit)" below and let me know what you think.

You may recognize elements of the track as it samples "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" from Dirty Dancing. While some reviews are saying this is a 'new' direction for The Peas, I don't think this strays too far from "The E.N.D." material. The track is basically another club banger with a synth and a catchy hook and ultimately I think they were aiming to hit #1 again. Either way, I'm sure the album and subsequent singles will do well. Tidbit: The video for the single has already been shot in LA and should premiere soon!

Mariah Carey to make Christmas merry again

Mariah Carey is set to release a follow up album to her highly successful 1994 Christmas album, "Merry Christmas". The album, tentatively titled, "Merry Christmas II You" has a release date 2 November and will apparently include a original material, covers and a bonus DVD.

Bring on the Christmas season, another Mariah album can't hurt anyone. Let's hope for better sales this time around. (See 'Memoirs').

Firstly, sorry for the lack of updates I've just been a bit busy moving to NYC! Just to let you all know, I'm now an official student of New York University. I'm studying at Tisch School of the Arts in the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music as a music business major. This has been on my list of things to do for quite some time so it's really exciting to finally be here.

First off, the past few days have been incredible. I'm meeting really talented people and learning a lot about their musical likes and dislikes. I'm hoping to feature a few of them on the blog when the time is right. Basically, I'll be incorporating a bit of the stuff we've been working on in classes as well as continuing with the regular posting.

Yes, it's now official, KLeeR Music has begun!

Producer's Feature: Harvey Mason Jr.!

As you might already know, I like to use Twitter as a means of communicating in the music world. Last night I was going about my business as usual and decided to Tweet about the music I was listening to. Take a look at my little bit of excitement below!

Yes, that's Harvey Mason Jr. replying to me on Twitter! Anyone who knows my music tastes really well will know that I have a lot of respect and admiration for the work that Harvey has done. He has recently been mentioned as one of the best vocal producers in the business, and I have to say I somewhat agree.

His work with countless amazing singers is a testimony to his incredible talent. Harvey has worked with the likes of Toni Braxton (Hands Tied, I Hate You), Whitney Houston (I Look To You), Beyonce (Listen) and Jennifer Hudson (Invisible) just to name a few. If you haven't heard of him before take a listen to some of his work and let me know what you think!

Introducing... Alice Russell!

I was browsing the net as I usually do and came across an artist by the name of Alice Russell. Alice's unique singing style and angelic voice intrigued me so I took a look at her story. Before we get into that, take a look at her performing Gnarls Barkley's 2005 hit, "Crazy" below.

Wow, amazing! Alice has a great talent and it seems like its getting put to good use. Anyway, a bit more about her. She lists artists like Minnie Ripperton, Jill Scott and Chaka Khan as her influences and has been compared to both Amy Winehouse and Joss Stone.

I'm really liking this track. I'm not so sure about how well it'll do on the charts, but nonetheless a good first single choice for Evans. Tidbit: Peep the official single cover above, which IMO is not 'the business'.
