Usher: Filing Papers!

The first single from Usher's upcoming album, tentatively titled "Monster" is set to air on Monday. The single, appropriately called "Papers" was written by Sean Garrett and is said to be about his recent divorce from Tameka Foster. Peep what is said to be the official cover above!

Mariah Carey: The Today Show!

Hot on the promotional trial for her new album, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" Mariah Carey performed a few cuts from the album on The Today Show. Peep the performances below and let me know what you think!

I posted the "H.A.T.E.U." performance first because in my opinion it was incredible! Mariah killed the high notes and the breakdown at the end was awesome! I truly believe this should be released as a single as she clearly enjoys performing it. As for the "I Want To Know What Love Is" and "Obsessed", while not the greatest performances they were still okay. "Love" was performed better on the Oprah show.

Slept On: Toni Braxton - Libra!

News has been a bit slow today so I thought I'd introduce a new post, "Slept On". It's basically just all the albums that I feel were completely underrated or didn't deserve the success they deserved! With new Toni Braxton material out and an upcoming album in the works, "Libra", her last effort released in 2005 is the perfect album for this post.

The first single off the album, "Please" was produced by Scott Storch and failed to have any lasting impact on the charts. The second unofficial single, "Trippin" is possibly my favourite track off the album and to this day one of the RnB songs I can continuously listening to on repeat.

This was and is still one of my favourite RnB albums that I own and I really recommend it for any RnB lover. My favourite tracks off the album are:

"Please"
"Trippin (That's The Way Love Works)"
"Midnite"
"I Wanna Be (Your Baby)"
"Sposed To Be"
"I Hate You"
"Long Way Home"

If you are able to get hold of a bonus track "Places" it's also a great track which is well worth a listen!

I've also posted a YouTube video of Toni performing "Trippin" at the BET Awards. Check out the incredible performance below and let me know what you think!

Timbaland Update!

Mega producer Timbaland has been hard at work on his follow up album to 2007's "Timbaland Presents: Shock Value". The album, titled "Shock Value 2" sees Timbo working with some of today's major artists including newly confirmed collaborations with Shakira, Kings of Leon, Paramore, Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake.

The album is said to hit stores on 24 November and will be preceded by a single said to be inspired by the film "Twilight" and featuring new recording artist, SoShy. Ryan Seacrest also took to his Twitter account shedding further light on the upcoming project.

"Timbaland came to office, played me his new tracks..with justin gaga..miley..daughtry he is about to evolve the sound of pop music once again"

This looks like it's shaping up to be another success for Timbaland. I'm quite excited to see the release of some new music from him, it's been a while since he dominated the charts with Justin and Nelly! I'm also hoping for something a bit different this time around as I really look to Timbaland as one of the producer's who always alters the sound of the industry and the direction in which modern music goes. We should see a single any day now if the release is 24 November!

Christina Wraps New Album!

Christina Aguilera has reportedly wrapped recording sessions for her new album due in early 2010. Producer Tricky Stewart recently spoke to Rap-Up Magazine and revealed a few details regarding the album.

“The album is finished. She’s mixing. She hasn’t made a final decision about what the first single is, but I know everyone feels good about their options. It’s just great. I wouldn’t say that it’s alternative, I wouldn’t say that it’s different. I really feel it’s one of her best bodies of work that I’ve heard since Stripped. She’s mixing it up again. She’s singing R&B again, she’s doing pop."

Tricky also confirmed that so far there are three features on the album, being M.I.A., Santigold and Flo Rida (who will appear on a track he produced for the album). The album, although complete will only be released early next year. Christina is reportedly working on a musical, "Burlesque" and would like to complete it before focusing on the new record.

This is exciting news. While 2006's "Back To Basics" was not a phenomenal effort from Aguilera, she still has vocals which put most of today's "singers" to shame. Roll on 2010!

Kelly Rowland: Live at the MOBOs!

Kelly Rowland and David Guetta performed their smash hit, "When Love Takes Over" at the MOBO Awards last night. This is the same performance that Kelly took to her Twitter account (see the preceding post). Watch the performance below and let me know what you think!

Wow, that was truly not as bad as I was expecting it to be. While there seemed to be a bit of a problem in the beginning there, Kelly picked herself right back up and continued to entertain the crowd. What I really liked about this performance is that the vocal was very raw, yet we got to see a bit of a "diva" Kelly where she really felt the song and gave it her all! Tidbit: Ms. Rowland is really looking incredible, I'm surprised some lucky man hasn't snatched her up yet!

Kelly Wants An Apology!

After appearing at the 2009 MOBO Awards last night, Kelly Rowland took to her Twitter account to express her anger in the way that her performance with David Guetta was handled. According to the RnB star, her audio was left until the last minute and consequently she was not able to perform "When Love Takes Over" to the best of her vocal ability. Read what Ms. Kelly has to say below and let me know what you think!

"OK. So, I'm at the MoBo's and getting ready to have a GREAT show with David and the MoBo's F'd my sound up! PISSED! HONESTLY, that just makes me work harder! But, what I will say is the MoBo's owe me an apology! I was LIVID after the show! I wanted you guys to be the 1st to hear it from me! rehearsals. were fine. soundcheck. was fine. performance, wad a struggle at 1st But, I got through it! So, it happens! The next show will be Better! TRUST!"

Wow, for a star to take to their Twitter account shows things must've been pretty crazy backstage at the awards. We all know Kelly can sing and she has proved her vocal ability countless times so I don't think this is just her rambling on because she wasn't in a good place vocally. I think it's only right that the MoBo's issue an apology to her! Related: When will we be hearing something new from Kelly? I can't wait!

New Music: Mariah Carey!

Although "Memoirs" only features production from Tricky Stewart and The Dream, Mariah Carey was also in the studio with hitmaker Timbaland before completing the sequencing of her latest album. We now have the fruits of those sessions in a track titled "Skydiving" which is featured on an upcoming mixtape. Listen to the song below and let me know what you think!
