Michael Jackson Passes Away!

The King of Pop has died. Tragically, this morning Michael Jackson died after a heart attack at his home in LA. Jackson was in the process of preparing for a comeback tour in Europe. This is a terrible day for the music industry!

Whitney's New Album Title

The title for Whitney Houston's upcoming album has been revealed as "I Look To You". The album hits stores on 1 September and an expected lead single will hit the airwaves in the next few weeks.

This is apparently the OFFICIAL album artwork for Jordin Spark's upcoming album "Battlefield". The release date is 20 July and the album is preceded by the single "Battlefield". Again, the first single is a hit in my opinion, I'm liking this artwork a little better too! Let's hope the album gets the attention it deserves!

Jaimaican superstar, Sean Paul is getting ready to release his fifth studio album "Imperial Blaze:. Here we have the Ray Kay directed video for the lead single "So Fine". The single and video are nothing special in my opinion and I'll be surprised if it lives up to the success of some of his previous work (see "Temperature"). Let me know what you think!

Ciara - Work Video

I haven't posted for a few days now (Uni work!), anyway while I've been away Ciara's video for "Work", the latest single off her album "Fantasy Ride" debuted. The Melina directed clip is great and features Missy Elliott! However, I still question how she can be signed to a record label with such poor vocals. She is a far better dancer! Still Obsessed!

So, it's almost a week since "Obsessed" was released and I'm still all up on the track like it was "Touch My Body". To me, this is some of Mariah's best lyrical work to date, have you heard those metaphors? This track has amped me up to see what Memoirs has to offer! Let me know what you think about "Obsessed".

Ms Kelly: #1

Kelly Rowland and David Guetta have scored a #1 UK hit with their single "When Love Takes Over". The song is currently bubbling under in the US so I'm really hoping it starts to show the same success that it has internationally as I feel she has been one of the most underrated artists in recent years. Here's hoping we start hearing some new material from her third solo album! 

Toni Braxton - Pulse

A new song from the incredible Toni Braxton has leaked, titled "Pulse" and apparently produced by The Underdogs the track doesn't stray too far from other leaked efforts ("Heart Never Had A Hero" and "Not A Chance"). In saying that, I'm loving me some new Toni! Let's hope for an official single soon! Listen to the song and let me know what you think!

Pink - Funhouse

The video for P!nk's fourth single off her latest album "Funhouse" has premiered. The clip, is for the album titled single, "Funhouse" and sees P!nk doing what she does best. Peep the video below.

This album has really sealed P!nk's name in the music industry and it's great to see she still maintains her individuality! What do you think?

A new song title from Mariah Carey's upcoming album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel has been confirmed as "The Impossible". Roll on 25 August!

New Shakira: She-Wolf!

The promotion for the first single from Shakira's upcoming album has begun. Titled "She-Wolf" the track is set to infuse dance, electronica and disco and has already received positive reviews from exclusive listening sessions. Virals have now begun to hit the net showing 'She-Wolves' claiming victims around the world, a great marketing technique! Apparently the video has already been shot with Jake Nava and will accompany the single upon its release. The single currently has a release date of 29 June with the album hitting shelves a little while later on 25 September. Again, Shakira has such a distinguishable voice that I'm actually quite excited to hear what she's going to be delivering in a few weeks. There are going to be so many releases over the next five months which has the latter half of 2009 looking like a great time for music!

New Featurette: "Undeservingly Unnoticed!"

There's not much happening in the world of music today, so I thought now would be a good time to introduce a new feature. I'm calling this one "Undeservingly Unnoticed!" and it's aim is to light up all the artists who I feel haven't had enough exposure and deserve a little more success. 

This week I'm going to introduce two artists who I feel deserve a little more respect. Firstly, Emily King, a singer/songwriter who group up in New York. Her debut album, "East Side Story" was released in 2007 and was nominated for Best Contemporary R&B album at the 2008 Grammy's. The album is quite good for a debut and I enjoyed her smooth vocals and catchy lyrics. My favourites from the album include, "Walk In My Shoes", "U & I", "Colourblind", "Ain't No Sunshine" and "Alright".

Secondly, I'd like to feature Kelly King (no, they're not related). She's got great vocals and has been compared to the likes of Celine Dion (wow). The album is nothing wonderful, but it does showcase her awesome voice which I hope we'll be hearing more of in the future. My favourite tracks from the album "Live The Dream" are, "I Don't Wanna Sing That Song", "Dreamer" and "I'm A Fool".

BEP #1

The Black Eyed Peas have scored their first #1 album on the Billboard Charts. Their latest effort, The E.N.D. saw the group selling around 304 000 copies in the first week. In other news, the group also occupies the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100, with Boom Boom Pow at #1 and their second single, 'I Gotta Feeling' in the #2 position.

Mariah Carey: Obsessed Roundup!

So, MC has been doing a quick roundup of the reviews from the debut of 'Obsessed' on radio today. Here's what she had to say:

Hey! Thanks for the LOVE re:Obsessed today!!! Those of you waiting on a ballad... Will get several ballads and all the "trinkets and whatnot" that you asked for! I know everyone has their fave style of "MC song" and this album has something for everybody...YES, WE HAVE BIG BALLADS! For now..I'm glad you guys are enjoying "obsessed": ) I wanted a fun summer moment to kick off the album. Loveyamuch!!! Let's go!

Well, get ready for a huge album! I'm excited to hear some ballads from the album, the snippet of 'HATE U' was amazing IMO. For the time being, I'm happy with 'Obsessed' as a lead single but I think we'll have a repeat of 'The Emancipation of Mimi' era where 'It's Like That' was a buzz single to get everybody back in Mimi mode and then she'll release the HITS! "Let's go!"

So, the remix for Obsessed, featuring Gucci Mane has hit the net. I can't post this due to the possibility of being shut down but Google it and you should be able to find it!

Obsessed Debuts!

Yes, the lead single from Mariah's upcoming album has debuted. The track titled Obsessed is definitely something different from anything else we've heard from MC. The vocals are nothing to rave about and it's a more urban sound. 

In other news, MOAIA now has a release date of 25 August! Tip: The song can be heard in high quality on Mariah's official webpage.

Getting Obsessed!

Well, as you all know, it's nearly time for Mariah's new single to debut! There are now less then 7 hours until it premieres! 

Just for your info, the song will be played on Chicago's B96 radio station at around 3pm CT. I am in Australia, so it will be streaming live at 6am Wednesday morning. I won't be getting up at 6am because I have a long day ahead of me. I will however be posting it and any other news as soon as I wake up.

For a change, I can't wait to wake up! Btw, I'm posting the single cover again, it's awesome!

The video for Ego, a cut off Beyonce's latest album premiered a while back. We now have the remix video featuring none other than Kanye West. In my opinion, 'Ye doesn't add much to the track and the video really leaves much to be desired. Let me know what you think!

 

Jay-Z Enlists Drake!

Jay-Z has apparently enlisted Drake for his lead single, 'Off That'. The single is lifted from his upcoming album, The Blueprint 3 which will be released in September with the single to debut soon.

Mariah on Ellen!

Mariah Carey will join Ellen on her talk show tomorrow, possibly to discuss the new album and the upcoming single! In other news, there are no leaks or snippets of "Obsessed" floating around on the net, trust me I've tried all my sources to get a preview! Will post it here as soon as I get something! 

Toni Braxton Update

So the surprise that Toni Braxton was meant to give on 1 June has now been moved up to 1 July after strict regulations in China (who knows why she'd want to announce her surprise there). Anyway, she has recently been recording more material with Stargate for her upcoming album which still has no release date. I'm really hoping that the surprise is something big this time around, with everyone in the industry upping their game for August, September and October releases Toni's team can't afford to play around if she doesn't want a repeat of Libra. Here's hoping they all catch a wake up soon!

New Trina - Work For It

Trina teams up with Ludacris for the lead single Work For It off her upcoming album "Amaze" set for release in September. I haven't had the chance to have a listen to it just yet, but I have to wonder if her release will go a bit unnoticed amidst all the releases from much more respected and established names.

MJB & Breezy - Stronger

Mary J Blige and Chris Brown team up for this effort titled 'Stronger'. What an incredible track, take a listen to it and let me know what you think. I'm excited for some new MJB material!

Colbie Caillat - Fallin' For You

New Colbie Caillat material. She had her previous hit with 'Bubbly' from her debut album CoCo in 2007. This is said to be the first single from her sophomore album 'Breakthrough' set for release 25 August. The track is called "Fallin' For You", take a listen to it here and let me know what you think.

Whitney Update!

Some news from the Whitney camp. Here album will still be released on 1 September, and will apparently make the Grammy deadline. The lead single is rumoured to be produced by David Foster and will debut very soon (when?). Other contributers are said to be Dianne Warren, Akon, Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats.

Wow, two of the biggest divas in the game will release their albums three days apart from one another! Who's going to have higher sales, let me know what you think in the comments!

Mariah Update!

I've had a bit of problem with my internet access so posting has been slow, however we are back up and running! Most importantly, new Mariah news. The single drops in less than two days and there has been confirmation that there is now a remix of Obsessed which features up and coming rapper, Gucci Mane. 

A remix for H.A.T.E. U. has also been confirmed and will be produced by Bangladesh (Beyonce's Diva). By the way, the first three letters from H.A.T.E. U. are Heart All The...

In other MC news, the album has apparently been pushed forward to 28 August so that she can meet the Grammy deadline (1 September).

As usual promo for MC's album is starting to heat up and news will be popping up everyday or so now so keep checking back for frequent updates!

She Wolf!

Shakira is set to release her 6th studio album on 23 September. The lead single is apparently "She Wolf". It sounds interesting, I'm quite anxious to hear what she's been working on as she has one of the most distinguishable voices in the industry.

Mariah Is A Press Conference?

I have some unconfirmed lyrics said to be from Mariah's new single 'Obsessed' due to debut on Tuesday. The-Dream has said that 'Obsessed' is a 'diss' track and with lyrics like "I'm a press conference, you're a conversation" and "You're a Mom & Pop store, I'm a corporation", Tuesday's debut is going to be on fire! 

I truly never knew Mariah had it in her to create one of these 'diss' records. I'm interested to see how far she goes, as Clown was borderline in my opinion. I can still only think that she has something this bad to say about her rumoured X, Eminem. What do you think?

MJB Confirms Single!

Mary J Blige has confirmed that 'The One', featuring Drake is the lead single from her upcoming album that will be released in November. Although I'm still not 100% sure about the track, I've definitely warming up to the track. I'm definitely ready for another Mary record!

Album Review: "Let The Truth Be Told"

So I said I would be reviewing 'Let the Truth Be Told', the debut album from newcomer Laura Izibor. Originating from Dublin, Ireland, this 22 year old can sing! The album has ten tracks, all of which have good lyrical content and great production! Overall I really enjoyed listening to the entire album, but my favourites are Shine, Don't Stay, I Don't Want You Back and Mmm. I don't like comparisons, but if you're trying to find out where she fits in, she's lies somewhere between Joss Stone, Leela James and Corrine Bailey Rae. The Dream Talks Memoirs

The Dream recently spoke about Mariah's upcoming project. Here what he had to say below.

"The most anticipated is the Mariah project, and she just released a fire record in the building today. And we have been blasting it out all day. It’s just fucking retarded. I don’t think anybody is going to expect her to come out punching like she is going to come out. But she got a record." He continued, hinting at the content, "It’s going to light the blogs up too because you don’t know who she talking about, what she talking about, but she talking about something. And remember The-Dream told you first. So you can start that up right now. Mariah Carey has a record, and somebody’s going to be very upset. I said that."

Hmm. I'm thinking a repeat of Charmbracelet's Clown, perhaps she won't let another Eminem incident go unchallenged! Bring on the album!

Adam Signs Deal!

American Idol runner-up has signed a record deal with 19 Recordings and RCA. The album is due for release this fall. 

Beverley Knight Readies 100%!

Yes, another album is on the way. This time, it's from British R&B star, Beverley Knight. Knight has confirmed that she will finish the album, tentatively titled "100%" today which is set to be on 7 September. Peep her comments below:

"My twitter family! I'm in the mastering studio actually putting the album in order! After today it is FINISHED! Last night was ace!! YAY! Xx"

I've always liked me some Beverley Knight ever since 'Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda'. I'm interested to see what this album will bring and I'm hoping she's able to reach a wider market this time!
