Top 5 Songs of the Moment!

Here's what I've been listening to as of late. In no particular order:

1. Mariah Carey - I Want To Know What Love Is
2. Whitney Houston - Salute
3. Whitney Houston - For The Lovers
4. Leona Lewis - Don't Let Me Down
5. Toni Braxton - Hands Tied

What are you listening to?

I Look To You Leaks!

Whitney Houston's upcoming album, "I Look To You" has leaked. The album, due 31 August is the diva's first release in 7 years and promises to be one of her best yet. Peep the official tracklisting and album artwork below.
1. Million Dollar Bill
2. Nothin' But Love
3. Call You Tonight
4. I Look To You
5. Like I Never Left (feat. Akon)
6. A Song For You
7. I Didn't Know My Own Strength
8. Worth It
9. For The Lovers
10. I Got You
11. Salute
12. I Didn't Know My Own Strength (iTunes Preorder Only)

After listening to the entire album (besides track 12), I'm really liking what Whitney and her team have put together here. I think the album sits between classic and contemporary RnB which works well for what they were trying to achieve.

I really feel that with the right promotion this could be a very successful 'comeback' album for her. My favourites are tracks 1, 3, and 8-11.

If you can find a copy of the album somewhere take a listen to it and let me know what you think.
PS: Buy your copy on Tuesday!

New Music: Mariah Carey!

The second single from Mariah Carey's upcoming album has premiered. The track, "I Want To Know What Love Is" is a cover of The Foreigner's 1970 hit and has been confirmed as the second single. Listen to the track below and let me know what you think!

I'm really liking this. I think Mariah has taken a classic and really given it her touch. In my opinion this is the best vocal we've heard from Mariah since The Emancipation of Mimi, especially around the end of the song when she gives it her all! I'm hoping this single does well for her, but I'm not sure if I see another #1 that she seems so desperate to get. What do you think?

MJB: The One Video!

The video for Mary J. Blige's lead single, "The One" off her upcoming album, "Stronger" has debuted. The clip sees Mary in a familiar place with a few effects and an appearance from it rapper, Drake. Peep it below and let me know what you think!

Whitney Shoots Bill!

Finally! Whitney Houston has been snapped on the set for her first single "Million Dollar Bill" off her upcoming album, "I Look To You". Whitney looks great in the pic so lets hope the video does the catchy song justice. Like many people though, I've been wondering why the video is not on the TV yet! Let's hope it debuts soon because the album release is less than a week away! What do you think of the pic?

Leona Echos!

The much anticipated sophomore album from Leona Lewis has now been given a title and a release date. The album, "Echo" will reportedly be released on 17 November and is said to feature production from Ryan Tedder, Stargate and Timbaland. After suffering a few leaks in the past months (see "Don't Let Me Down" with Justin Timberlake) I'm hoping she is able to really deliver this time around. What are you looking forward to on Leona's new album?

MC Wants To Know What Love Is!

The new "official" first single from Mariah Carey's upcoming (delayed) album has been announced as The Foreigners' "I Want To Know What Love Is". The track is said to see Mariah getting her whisper on (see entire Charmbracelet album). Again, I can't wait for this to debut. In other news, "Obsessed" has reclaimed its spot at #11 on the Billboard Hot #100, maybe the PR team will continue to push it if it climbs higher. What do you think?

We Have A Smash!

Listen to a snippet of "100%" a new track from Mariah Carey said to be off the Push soundtrack album. The track sees MC teaming up with long time collaborator Jermaine Dupri and really emphasises why she IS the top artist in this game. This really has my hopes lifted for Memoirs! What do you think?

Whitney Houston Album Preview!

Whitney Houston's upcoming album, "I Look To You" can now be previewed here. With 5 of the 11 tracks having leaked already I hope Whitney does not suffer any sales losses. From the previews and leaks I'm really liking Million Dollar Bill, Song For You and Salute. What are favourites?

Christina Aguilera Update!

Pop princess Christina Aguilera is currently working on her followup album to 2006's "Back To Basics". In an attempt to switch it up, she is apparently working with alternative artists, Santogold, M.I.A. and Lady Tron.

Although work has started on the album, don't expect it any time soon. It is said to have a tentative release in the first quarter of next year.

Video Preview: Run This Town!

A preview for the lead single off Jay-Z's upcoming album, "The Blueprint 3" has hit the web. The single, "Run This Town" features fellow rapper Kanye West and Jay's protege Rihanna.

I'm liking this track but I really think Jay went a bit too commercial with it. I think he really tried to replicate T.I.'s "Live Your Life" after its success last year. Peep the video below and let me know what you think?

MJB to do AI!

The team at American Idol has snapped up Mary J Blige as a guest judge on the upcoming season. She is the second guest judge to appear on the show after Victoria Beckham's appearance earlier in the season.

I'm glad to see Mary getting her name back out there. With the show having such a large audience it'll certainly help with the promo for her upcoming album. Talking about the album, the video for the lead single, "The One" should hopefully premiere soon!

MC Gets New PR, Obsessed not the first single!

According to MariahDaily, Mariah Carey has gone back to her previous PR company which took the reigns in her 2005 comeback. More interestingly though, "Obsessed" is said to not be the official first single from Memoirs. The single is said to be a powerhouse ballad which will be released within the next few weeks.

In other reports, the second single (which now seems to be the lead) is said to be the remake of The Foreigner's "I Wanna Know What Love Is". I'm actually quite glad promo was pulled for "Obsessed" with the single not doing well on the charts and not receiving the greatest reviews I think moving onto something else is for the best.

I'm still looking forward to Memoirs so I'm really hoping Mariah is able to deliver this time around. What do you think?

Memoirs Pushed Back!

It's official! Mariah Carey's much anticipated forthcoming album, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" has yet again been pushed back. The album was initially pencilled in for release on 28 August while later being postponed to 15 September. It has now been confirmed that the album will only be released on 29 September, a month away from the original release. In related news, Mariah has cancelled all promo including her appearances on the VMAs and The Today Show next month.

Though a little shocked after hearing this, I must say I'm not surprised. No one's really caught onto "Obsessed" like they did with "Touch My Body". I'm guessing we'll hear a SMASH second single before the release which will ultimately serve as a lead promo single. I'm also wondering whether getting rid of Benny Medina as a manager was a good idea. Mariah has recently signed with Chris Lighty of Violator Management and he doesn't seem to be doing much for the legendary superstar. What are you thoughts?

New Whitney: Million Dollar Bill!

The first single from Whitney Houston's much anticipated comeback album, "I Look To You" has leaked! Titled, "Million Dollar Bill", the track sees Houston in a strong place vocally. The 70s track boasts simple production from the one and only Swizz Beats as well as writing credits from the incredible Alicia Keys!

Listen to the track here and let me know what you think!

I'm liking this one!

Paula Abdul To Leave Idol!

In news that will shock the millions of fans that tune in to American Idol each season, Paula Abdul will officially be leaving the show after her contract terms were not agreed upon by both parties. Abdul was set to be asking too much to appear on the next season and producers thought she could be replaced.

Is Paula replaceable? What do you think?

Eve - Me N My (Up In The Club)

The lead single from Eve's upcoming album, "Flirt" is said to be the track "Me N My (Up In The Club)". To put it simply, the track is a hot mess and it she would've been better off releasing the album under the previous title "Here I Am" with the singles "Tambourine" and "Give It To Me" being of much high quality in my opinion. Listen to the track below and let me know what you think!

Janet Jackson set for 2010 release!

Janet Jackson's website is in the process of being revamped and in the process, it has been revealed that the singer, dancer and actress will release a new studio album in the first quarter of 2010!

Janet's last album, "Discipline" was not her strongest in my opinion and this was reflected in the sales of the album (a mere 441 000) copies. Consequently she was dropped from DefJam and now remains unsigned.
What would you like to see from Janet on her next studio album?

Robbie Williams Update!

British singer/songwriter Robbie Williams has recently been in the studio recording his follow up album to 2006's "Rudebox". The album, tentatively titled "Reality Killed the Video Star" currently has a release date of 23 October. Williams's most recent comments regarding the album are, "My album's a killer: old Robbie, new Robbie and a Robbie that neither of us have met...". Robbie has had some big hits back in the day so I'm eager to see what he'll be serving up this time around! What do you think?
