JoJo returns with mixtape

After a highly publicized dispute with her label, JoJo has opted to release a mixtape, "Can't Take That Away From Me" on 7 September. The mixtape is preceded by the single, "In The Dark" which was written by JoJo and produced by Jordan Gatsby. Take a listen to the track below and let me know what you think!

I'm really liking this. It's a very different direction for JoJo, but I think it works. She has stated that the mixtape does not necessarily represent what the new album will sound like, but lets hope she incorporates something a bit different into what she's been working on. You can also peep the official tracklisting for the mixtape below. Let me know what you think!

1. Can't Take That Away From Me
2. Running on Empty
3. Pretty Please
4. Why Didn't You Call
5. Just A Dream
6. When Does It Go Away
7. My Time Is Money
8. What You Like (feat. Jordan Gatsby)
9. In The Dark
10. Boy Without A Heart
11. All I Want Is Everything

Katy Perry dominates charts (again)...

Katy Perry scores her first #1 album with "Teenage Dream". The album sold 192 000 copies this past week thanks to the singles "California Gurls" and "Teenage Dream". The second single also topped the Billboard 200 this week, giving Perry her third #1 single. Work!

Mariah Carey to make Christmas merry again

Mariah Carey is set to release a follow up album to her highly successful 1994 Christmas album, "Merry Christmas". The album, tentatively titled, "Merry Christmas II You" has a release date 2 November and will apparently include a original material, covers and a bonus DVD.

Bring on the Christmas season, another Mariah album can't hurt anyone. Let's hope for better sales this time around. (See 'Memoirs').

Firstly, sorry for the lack of updates I've just been a bit busy moving to NYC! Just to let you all know, I'm now an official student of New York University. I'm studying at Tisch School of the Arts in the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music as a music business major. This has been on my list of things to do for quite some time so it's really exciting to finally be here.

First off, the past few days have been incredible. I'm meeting really talented people and learning a lot about their musical likes and dislikes. I'm hoping to feature a few of them on the blog when the time is right. Basically, I'll be incorporating a bit of the stuff we've been working on in classes as well as continuing with the regular posting.

Yes, it's now official, KLeeR Music has begun!
